Dear Editor,
Our President was on a two days’ outreach in Berbice, I compliment him and his team. A serious encounter happened where the opposition and media have not highlighted. A pensioner, who I know personally, complained to the President that the Health Center did not have Timolol Eye Drop for the longest period. Mr Ali instructed that the medication be bought privately and delivered, for which there is photographic evidence. Editor, the price for a bottle of Timolol Eye Drop is $500.00 Guyana dollars, the gentleman got a year’s supply, which is equal to $6000.00 dollars. Can the Minister of Health tell the Guyanese People why this cheap drug, used to treat an important part of the body, is not available in the Health Center? Where are the billions of our money going, and who is getting the money?
Over 2 years ago, Mr. Ali was in Berbice and a citizen complained that she paid $2000.00 dollars for a load of dirt. Mr. Ali asked for an investigation and that the report be at his office in 3 days, we are still waiting on the report. Instead of investigating the $2000.00 dirt, I feel Mr. Frank Anthony should proceed on leave and let there be a COI on the simple drug shortage. Mr. Ali, please read an important letter from one of your loyal supporters, Hajji Roshan Khan, about the important shortage of Tetanus injection that all health centers and hospitals should have. Read about the horror story Brother Khan and that patient is going through to get the Tetanus. How many phone calls did Brother Khan make and follow ups for that patient?
I say thanks for citizen like Hajji Khan. I thank God that that patient did not die. Where is Guyana heading to? I personally feel that Guyana is a failed state for its poor people. The rich will go to the private hospitals and overseas for medical service. Who is singing the song, ‘The Next DUBAI? We can be like DUBAI but we need uncorrupted leaders, and life sentences for the corrupt politician. My prayers are with the poor and suffering people in Guyana.
Sincerely,
Imtiaz Khan
