The body of a driver from Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was discovered in a drainage canal near his home on Wednesday night.
The driver has been identified as Vendanand Khemraj, 51, of Lot 20 Well Street, Ogle, ECD.
According to a police press release, at about 20:00 hours on Wednesday, the Force’s Operations Room alerted ranks that the body of a male had been found in a drainage canal at Ogle. They visited the area and discovered the body lying face down in water in a drainage canal, on Well Street, Ogle.
Khemraj is suspected to have drowned.
The body was identified by his wife, Pamela Khemraj, 51, of the same address. It was then removed from the drainage canal and inspected by police. No visible marks of violence were observed on the body.
Emergency medical technicians from the Georgetown Public Hospital responded and Khemraj was pronounced dead.
When questioned by police, the man’s sister said she last saw him alive at about 18.20 hrs on Wednesday.
