Well-known private sector executive and former Managing Director of Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), Ramesh Persaud, has resigned from that post and is now heading National Hardware Limited (NHL).
Persaud in an interview with the Stabroek News confirmed that he had in December left DDL for NHL.
The once long-time head of the Institute of Private Enterprise Development (IPED) had left that position in May 2021 to become DDL’s Managing Director.
A chartered accountant, and holder of an MBA from Heriot-Watt University, Persaud has had many years of executive experience and had also been Chairman of the Private Sector Commission.
When the DDL Group had hired him, it said that the company was steadily growing and expanding, and in light of this development, the decision was made to appoint a managing director.
DDL Chairman, Komal Samaroo, in welcoming Persaud to the Group had said, “I am delighted to welcome Mr. Persaud to the DDL Group at this time as we prepare to embark on the next phase of expansion and modernization of the Group. We have a very ambitious agenda over the next five years with several projects identified. Mr. Persaud’s addition to the leadership team will certainly place us in a strong position to successfully achieve our goals.”
