Dear Editor,
This evening the Georgetown Cricket Club hosted a simple ceremony to honour legendary cricket commentator, Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreira. The tributes were many, moving, and came from far and wide.
Among those tributes were calls for the Media Centre at the Guyana National Stadium to be named in his honour.
In his remarks at the end of the evening, he said, ‘It’s good to be home, it’s really good to be home.’
Reds Perreira has been a unifying voice for cricket for decades, he has memories that many of us have forgotten. He is synonymous with the beautiful game that brings us together. He has carried The Golden Arrowhead with pride, he is a Son of this place we call Guyana, this land we call home. It’s time to bring him home.
Sincerely,
Wanita Huburn
