Presidential nominee of the Guyana Olympic Association, Electoral General Meeting, Robin Singh is urging the body to ‘abort the current iteration’ scheduled in the next two days.

Singh cited ‘breach of the procedure’ for his stance.

In a letter seen by this publication, Singh wrote the following:

Dear Sir,

I direct your attention to the following two articles in the Stabroek News:

https://www.stabroeknews.com/2023/03/11/sports/edwards-denies- knowledge-of-correspondence-purportedly-sent-by-him/

https://www.stabroeknews.com/2023/03/11/sports/i-am-eligible-to-run/

Given that the correspondence of 7th March 2023 from the General Secretary is a confirmed forgery/misrepresentation, I would suggest that the Electoral Meeting set for 14th March 2023 is now in breach of procedure and strongly urge you to abort the current iteration.

In reading the new Constitution, I noticed an anomaly that is worthy of mention;

11.3. ELECTORAL GENERAL MEETINGS 11.3.1. Such meetings shall be held every four (4) years as soon as possible after the Games of the Olympiad (i.e. Olympic Summer Games), but no later than May 31st of the ensuing year

The new Constitution was born in breach of itself and without an Appeals Board in

place, there seems to be no recourse except the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

In light of the foregoing, and the interest of Sport, I ask that you convene a special/urgent meeting of the Council to fully ventilate and arrive at consensus decisions on the various breaches of the newly adopted Constitution and chart a way forward to a free and fair election.

Sincerely Robin Singh
