A father of four died after he lost control of his hire car on Tuesday night at La Belle Alliance, Essequibo Coast and ended up in a nearby trench.
Dead is Amos Christopher Li of La Belle Alliance, Region Two. The accident occurred around 22:30 hours.
Li, who was driving HD 252, was taking a passenger to her destination. He allegedly lost control and ended up in a trench not far from where he lives. The passenger is currently hospitalised after she suffered a broken arm.
The police named the passenger as 20-year-old Aliyah Harris, of Coffee Grove, Essequibo Coast. Harris told the police that Li lost control of the vehicle which then collided with a concrete culvert on the western side of the road and ended up in the trench.
According to the wife of the deceased, Stacy Li, her husband left for work on Tuesday afternoon. He usually works with “Ovo Taxi service” and would usually make trips for them. Stacy Li who is pregnant said that she received the tragic news around 23:00 hours on Tuesday.
She said that when relatives visited the scene the car was in the trench. The deceased’s sister, Meekesia Tyrell said the car was badly damaged. She said that residents assisted her brother out and rushed him to the Suddie Public Hospital where he succumbed.
Only recently the family lost their sister-in-law who drowned at Feather Beach. The deceased was a twin and was a father of four.
“My brother doesn’t do anything wrong, he goes to church he loves his family, I don’t know why this is happening to us”, Tyrell lamented.
