The Select XI yesterday won their second match in the Guyana Cricket Board’s Inter-County U15 tournament while Berbice gained their first win as round two of the tournament continued yesterday at Enmore and the Everest Cricket Club venues.
At Enmore, Essequibo, batting first, were routed for 71 all out off 29.2 overs.
Elisha Ramdatt was the top scorer with 16 while eventual Man-of-the-Match awardee, Jonathan Mentore was the pick of the bowlers for the GCB Select XI with 3-20 (5).
Arun Gainda 3-7, Shane Prince 2-6, and Dave Mohabir 2-3, heaped pressure on the Essequibo batsmen resulting in their eventual capitulation.
In reply, the GCB Select XI raced to 75-3 from just 12.3 overs.
Vishal Williams top scored with 23 while Mentore and Shoaib Gafoor ended on 14 not out and 12 not out respectively as the Select Xi made light work of their target.
At the Everest Cricket Club ground, Camp Road,
Demerara were dismissed for 86 in 45 overs. Mickle Sharma top scored with 20. Bowling for Berbice, Arif Khan 4-21 from eight overs and Feaz Baksh 3-18 from 10 overs were the chief wicket takers.
Berbice lost a mere three wickets on their way to the small target of 87, taking all of 41.3 overs to get there. Richard Ramdeholl top scored with 21 while Adrian Hetmyer and Navin Boodwah chipped in with 19 and 18 runs respectively.
The third and final round of the GCB Under-15 Inter-County will be played tomorrow with Berbice facing Essequibo at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda while the GCB Select XI will take on Demerara at Enmore.
