GCB Select XI crowned U-15 Inter-County champs

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Select XI yesterday brushed aside Demerara at the Enmore Community Development Centre ground, to become champions of the U-15 Super50 Inter-County tournament.

Berbice, who defeated Essequibo in their final round match yesterday were the runners up.

The GCB Select XI, which was captained by Guyana U-15 captain, Dave Mohabir, won the tournament by eking out a one run win over Berbice in the first match, whipped Essequibo by seven wickets in the second round and thrashed Demerara by 52 runs in yesterday’s finale.

At the presentation ceremony Adrian Hetmyer was declared the batsman with the most runs with an aggregate of 83 runs from three innings.

He was also named Man-of-the-Match in yesterday’s match for his innings of 52.

The GCB Select XI captain, Mohabir, won an award for taking the most wickets.

He was also adjudged the Most Valuable Player.

The Berbice team was presented with a runners-up trophy by GCB Territorial Development Officer, Colin Stuart, while the GCB Select XI team was presented with the winner’s trophy by GCB Assistant Administrator, Kavita Yadram.

The GCB U-15 Inter-County Super50 tournament will be used to select the Guyana team to participate in this year’s Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Regional Under-15 Super50 tournament to be played in Antigua and Barbuda from April 2, 2023.

At Enmore:

GCB Select XI, 118 all out off 39.5 overs. Kishan Silas 26, Dave Mohabir 20. Brandon Henry, 4-17 (7), Joshua Charles, 2-14 and Mickel Sharma 2-18.

Demerara in reply, 66 all out in 33 overs. Arun Gainda taking 4 – 3 runs off 3.1 overs. Mohabir 2-10.

At GCC:

Berbice 215 off 48.4 overs. Adrian Hetmyer 52, Razaam Koobir 40, Romario Ramdeholl 33, Arif Khan 24 and Navin Boodwah 20. Bowling for Essequibo, Nicholas Lovell, 2-25, Bhomesh Lall, 2-33 and Ethan Silas, 2-23.

Essequibo, 89 all out off 40.4 overs. Romario Ramdeholl, 3-17, Arif Khan, 3-27 and Gavin Kisten, 2-2.
