Keith’s report on City Council was worthy of the highest acclaim

Dear Editor,

The writer was so pleased to see how well Keith looked in the photograph contained in his eloquent reflection of a painful, albeit professional life — in SN of Sunday, March 12.

The late Sandra Jones and I partnered Keith in a consultancy within the HSDU which he managed. There were occasions when I recall witnessing his pain and having to bargain for help from persons unknown to us — a situation that did not constrain our appreciation of his scholarly commitment to a heavy workload.

With respect to his assignment to the Mayor and City Council, I have always argued that his Final Report of the exhaustive public investigation he conducted of its management and operations, was worthy of the highest acclaim, and certainly implementation. However, the relevant recipients could not match the intellectual attention and remedial action it demanded.

As a result, the subsequent Management of the City Council has been the worse off for its negligence. The current Deputy Mayor should know. He never returned my copy of the Report of a human being who I continue to salute.

Yours faithfully,

E. B. John
