Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, The Honourable Charles S. Ramson (MP) yesterday visited Linden where he examined the ongoing work at Bayroc, Linden, Region 10 where the installation of the synthetic track has commenced.
According to a release, during the visit, a representative of the German company Regupol, BSW, was on-site to explain the process and show Minister Ramson Jr., and his team what works have been completed so far.
Minister Ramson Jr., explained to the media that the project has been a failure of enormous proportions by the APNU-AFC government who were constantly telling the Guyanese public that the project would have been completed by 2018. When that deadline was missed –by 2019, and when that deadline too was missed – by early 2020.
However, according to the minister, it was revealed in Parliament earlier this year that, in fact, the synthetic material was never paid for.
Minister Ramson Jr., was accompanied by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Kashif Muhammad and Assistant Director of Sport, Melissa Dow-Richardson.
