The Police Falcons trounced the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ruggers 48-12 when the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) 12’s League continued on Sunday at the National Park.
With national captain Lionel Holder leading from the front, the Police unit put paid to the efforts of the wrinkled GDF outfit which has seen a steep decline in its play owing to the absence of several of its topflight players.
Holder showed his class and pedigree, scoring a hat trick of tries and buried two conversions in a dominant showing.
He was supported by Shawn David, Adrian Hall and Tevin Garraway who each scored a try. Michael Barrow then got into the action and breached the try line twice in the second half to further stretch the score line.
A try each by Avery Corbin and Jonathan David along with a conversion by Kevin Wills was all the offense GDF could generate.
The score sheet was respectable just after the first half when David scored and made the match a one possession game, 19-12.
Following that sequence, the Police players reloaded and rattled off five unanswered tries and two conversions in the final 10 minutes to complete the drubbing. The League continues Sunday at the same venue from 16:30hrs.
