Recently appointed One Day International (ODI) West Indies captain Shai Hope became only the second West Indian to score an ODI century on his ODI captaincy debut.
Hope emulated his compatriot Sir Richie Richardson who was the only West Indian player to achieve this feat.
Richardson, captaining the West Indies for the first time in an ODI scored an unforgettable 106 not out against Pakistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in October 1991. The West Indies won that encounter by one wicket.
Hope was not born when Richardson led the West Indies to that famous victory at Sharjah 32 years ago but added his name to the list with an unbeaten 128 against South Africa at Buffalo Park on Saturday.
Following is the list of all players who have scored centuries on their ODI captaincy debuts.
