Timehiri Panthers through to semifinals

Timehri Panthers, Young Gunners, Haynes Hardware Ballers and Underdogs secured their respective semi-final berths, following quarterfinal victories on Saturday evening in the maiden edition of the ‘Republic Classic Beach Football Championship’ at the Christianburg ground, Linden.

In the feature clash of the evening, Timehri Panthers squeaked past tournament favourite Hard-Knocks by a 3-2 score-line on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended with the score locked at 7-7. On the other hand, Haynes Hardware Ballers crushed Aroaima 13-6.

Meanwhile, Young Gunners riddled Hi-Stars 6-3. Also, Underdogs edged Turf Kings by a 4-3 score.

The event continues on Saturday at the same venue with the semi-final section and the eventual third place playoff and finale. Timehri Panthers will now face-off with Young Gunners, whilst Haynes Hardware Ballers will match skills with Underdogs.

The resulting winners will advance to the championship match, with the losers facing off for the third position. The winner of the tournament will pocket $300,000 and the corresponding trophy, with the second, third, and fourth place finishers receiving $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 apiece and the respective accolade. Similarly, prizes will also be awarded for the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Goalkeeper, Most Goals Scored and Most Disciplines Team.
