The Ministry of Health yesterday handed over fifteen ATVs, four ambulances and three boats purchased under the Regional Health Services programme to support the transportation needs of the hinterland regions.
The ATVs were allocated to Region One (Barima-Waini), Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) and Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).
Meanwhile, the ambulances were distributed to Regions Nine, Six, and Two, to aid in the enhancement of emergency care services, a release from the Ministry of Health said.
In addition, Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, also handed over three riverboats. One will be utilised in Region Ten and the other two in Regions Nine.
Present at yesterday’s handing over ceremony were Michael Gouviea, Coordi-nator of the Indigenous Peoples Com-munities; Dr Vishalya Sharma, Regional Health Officer for Region Six; Dr Cerdel McWatt, Regional Health Officer attached to Region Nine; Damian Fraser, Regional Health Officer (Ag) attached to Region One, Dr Gregory Harris, Regional Health Officer for Region 10 and other officials.
