Andy Jainandan appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
He was sentenced to five years in prison and fined $5.4 million, a release from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) said.
On 25th March, 2023, Jainandan was intercepted by CANU officers, carrying 12 lbs (5.36 kgs) of imported cannabis “poppy” worth $1.8 million.
