The “largest ever” Rupununi Rodeo was officially opened in Lethem, Region Nine yesterday, the Department of Public Information (DPI) reported.
The event was officially declared open by Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Nigel Dharamlall.
Dharamlall noted that the government will continue to provide support to various sectors of the economy.
This year alone close to $10 billion will be spent in the region in areas such as infrastructure, tourism, social development and welfare, DPI said.
Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai and Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat also delivered remarks.
