Gold is Money, Stabroek Ballers, and Beterverwagting (BV) secured contrasting wins when the Kashif and Shanghai ‘One Guyana Futsal Championship’ resumed on Tuesday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Gold is Money brushed aside Foot Steppers 4-1. Michael Oie amassed a brace in the 16th and 29th minute, with Jamal Pedro and Randolph Wagner scoring in the 25th and 30th minute respectively. On target in the loss in the ninth minute was Shawn Cudjoe.
Similarly, Stabroek Ballers crushed Bagotstown Warriors 8-1. Bevney Mark recorded a hat-trick in the ninth, 10th, and 13th minute, whilst Mark Jhalu added a brace in the second and 26th minute. Contributing goals in the third, Seon Taylor-3rd, 15th, and 29th minute were Seon Taylor, Shemar Welch, and Omar Jones respectively. For the loser, Joel McGarron netted in the fourth minute.
Meanwhile, BV-1 squeaked past Melanie 1-0. Steve Miller found the back of the net in the 12th minute.
The event continues tonight at the same venue with another round of matches. The winner of the tournament will pocket $1,000,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third, and fourth place finishers will receive $500,000, $200,000, and $100,000 respectively. On the individual side, the Most Valuable Player of the event will receive a motorcycle.
