A Bushlot, Corentyne man is now in a serious condition after he was held down and stabbed multiple times on Saturday by two men – one of whom accused him of verbal abuse at work.
Sureshpaul Ramphal also known as “Suresh”, 22, a labourer of Lot 113 Bush Lot Village, Corentyne, was reportedly attacked just around 8 pm on Saturday.
According to information gathered, Ramphal went to a supermarket in the village where the two attackers were imbibing outside at the time. Upon seeing him arrive, one of the attackers told the other that Ramphal verbally abused him at their workplace earlier in the day.
As a result, the duo then began cursing at Ramphal resulting in an argument.
At that point, one of the attackers pulled out a Rambo knife from his pants waist while the second suspect held Ramphal down and they began dealing Ramphal stabs to his ribs, abdomen and hand after which they escaped on foot.
Ramphal was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital and subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he is presently hospitalized in a serious condition.
Meanwhile, according to information gathered the suspects were arrested and placed in custody at the Whim Police Station for questioning.
