Bent Street, Albouystown and Kitty recorded contrasting wins when the Kashif and Shanghai ‘One Guyana Futsal Championship’ resumed on Saturday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Bent Street crushed Sophia 5-1. Trayon Bobb recorded a hat-trick in the ninth, 23rd, and 28th minute whilst Adrian Aaron and Pernell Schultz found the back of the net in the 22nd and 27th minute respectively. For the losing team, Tikadi Sealey etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 29th minute.
Similarly, Albouystown dismantled Avocado Ballers 8-1. Joshua Samuels tallied a hat-trick in the third, fifth and 27th minute whilst Dwayne James added a brace in the eighth and 23rd minute. Adding one goal apiece were Tyler Lyle, Antonio Douglas and Ome Harri in the 11th, 18th, and 28th minute respectively.
For the losing team, Brandon Francis netted in the 17th minute.
Meanwhile, Kitty squeaked past Vengy 1-0 compliments of a Deon Alfred strike in the fifth minute.
The event continues tomorrow at the same venue with another round of matches. The winner of the tournament will pocket $1,000,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive $500,000, $200,000, and $100,000 respectively. On the individual side, the Most Valuable Player of the event will receive a motorcycle.
