Two women were yesterday released on self-bail for after they were charged and placed before the courts for vandalising a motor car.
Donette Benjamin, 20, of Lot 407 ‘B’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown, and Ronatta Parris, 24, of Lot 416 ‘B’ Field Sophia, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Dylon Bess where they faced a charge of damage to property. Both defendants pleaded not guilty.
The court was told that on April 16, at 3684 Norton Street, Georgetown, the duo unlawfully damaged the windshield valued $90,000, of a motor car as well as the car’s tyres, valued $32,000, all property of Michael Jordan.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge and indicated to the court that they had compensated Jordan for the damage done to the vehicle. They had given Jordan $70,000 on April 19, and are expected to pay the remainder on May 03.
Magistrate Bess subsequently ordered both defendants to stay out of trouble, warning that if they were to appear before him in future for any similar matter, they would be sent to prison for three months.
The matter was adjourned to May 3.
