Minister in the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar and India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar yesterday toured the US$106,383,954 Ogle-Eccles road project which is being built in part with an Indian credit line.
With construction underway by contractor Ashoka Buildcon Limited, once complete, the main thoroughfare will accommodate 4-lane traffic that stretches 7.7 km, a release from the ministry said.
The road will provide a direct link between the East Coast and East Bank Demerara corridor, thereby reducing traffic congestion on roadways along these busy routes and within the Capital City.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Public Works, and other Government Ministries and agencies attended the site visit, as well as top public officials from India.
