Non Pareil mechanic dies after car ends up in trench

Police are investigating an incident that claimed the life of a 28-year-old mechanic after he lost control of his vehicle at Coldingen, East Coast Demerara on Tuesday evening.

A police report stated that about 18:15 hours on Tuesday, Akram Samaroo of Lot 334 Section ‘B’, Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara, was driving a motorcar, PTT 4607, on the Coldingen Access Road. He was said to be driving at a fast rate and while negotiating a left bend on the Access road, lost control of his vehicle.

Investigations revealed that the car flipped, ended up in a nearby trench and was submerged in water. Samaroo was pulled out of the car by public-spirited citizens. Emergency medical technicians were summoned and on arrival at the scene, they examined the man and pronounced him dead.
