The Guyana Elections Commission yesterday released the list of candidates for the June 12th local government elections and in Georgetown one of the pivotal first-past-the-post matchups will be in the Albouystown ward where previously independent candidate Malcolm Ferreira has joined up with the PPP/C.

A new party, Independent Citizens for Progress is also fielding candidates in the capital and there is also a smattering of candidates  contesting  single constituencies.

One surprise crossover to the PPP/C, former Mayor of Georgetown Pat Chase-Green is not contesting in her constituency but is on the party’s proportional representation list. Chase-Green has been on the city council since 1994, first as A Good and Green Guyana Councillor and then crossing over to the PNCR.

In Constituency 10, Albouystown-Charlestown, Ferreira will come up against APNU’s Travis Cleon Ellis.

Former APNU councillor  Trichria Richards who has also crossed over to the PPP/C will come against Winston Radcliffe Trevor- APNU and an independent candidate in West and East Ruimveldt, constituency 13.
