Commissioner of Police (ag) Clifton Hicken yesterday promised Mahaicony farmers heightened police presence in their community after they complained about the prevalence of cattle rustling that was plaguing their livelihoods.
A police press release said Hicken met with the farmers at the Mahaicony Police Station compound where farming and other pertinent matters were discussed.
Along with promising to place more police patrols in the area, the release said, Hicken encouraged the farmers to establish community policing groups urgently, to work along with police ranks in the division to mitigate cattle rustling and other crimes.
Among those present at the meeting were Commander for Regional Division Five Assistant Com-missioner Kurleigh Simon, Officer-in-Charge of Mahaicony Police Station Assistant Superintendent Leslie Eastman, Station Sergeant Eroy Williams and other ranks attached to the Mahaicony Police Station.
