The Georgetown Cricket Association/New Building Society 40 overs second-division tournament continued Saturday with Pernell London hitting an unbeaten century to spur Police Sports Club to a 151-run win over Diplomats.
On home turf, Police won the toss and decided to bat first, piling up a mammoth 318 for four by the time their overs ended. Diplomats could only reach 167 before being bowled out in 34.1 overs.
Following an opening stand of 43 for Police, when Ameer Mohamed was dismissed for 14, it was all over to London who rocketed to 116 not out from just 77 balls.
London smashed five sixes and seven fours during his innings. He shared in a 152-run stand for the fourth wicket with Andrew Lyght Jnr., who cracked eight sixes and two fours on his way to 75 from 41 balls.
Cameos also came from Chemroy Kendall who struck a 19-ball 39 and Troy Benn with 38 from 51 balls.
Benn and London returned with ball in hand to pick up three wickets each for 31 and 33 runs respectively.
Adrian Foster resisted the Police bowlers with 45 from 55 balls, hitting four fours and a six but having lost his opening partner, Moonsammy Verasammy for a first ball duck and then Rayson Gill for seven, it was an uphill battle for the visitors. Shemroy Griffith chipped in with 22 while Dhaniram Ramkhelwan and Rickford Mohammed made 17 runs each but only Nigel Simpson with 15 could reach double figures.
