Buxton Stars and Haslington secured hard-fought victories when the East Coast Demerara leg of the National Milling Company (NAMILCO) U17 Boys Football League continued on Saturday evening at the Buxton Community Centre ground.
Buxton Stars overcame Victoria Kings 2-1. Second half goals from Compton Hope and Deshawn McPherson in the 50th and 68th minute respectively secured the win, after Victoria Kings had initially taken the lead in the 48th minute.
Haslington edged Beterverwagting 2-1. Akin Baynes and Delroy Benjamin scored in the 29th and 53rd minute respectively. For the loser, Jaden Harris found the back of the net in the 25th minute.
The NAMILCO U17 Championship, which is compulsory for all nine GFF regional associations, will have two phases – the intra-association league, which will decide the best teams in each regional association, followed by a championship round to crown the national champions.
