The body of a 60-year-old boat captain who went missing after a river mishap on Monday was found on Wednesday by a search party headed by a police sergeant in the vicinity of Eteringbang Landing, Cuyuni River.
According to the police report, the body was identified as Lloyd Obermuller, a 60-year-old labourer of Crane Housing Scheme and Eteringbang Landing. The body was found clad in short black pants and a brown jersey. Police examined the body, and injuries were seen on his lower left hand and face.
Obermuller and his two passengers went missing and were feared drowned while another captain was rescued with severe injuries after a collision in the Cuyuni River on Monday.
Dion Moore, the Region #7 Police Commander told Stabroek News that only Obermuller’s body has been recovered so far.
