The Ministry of Education today named the 19 victims of last night’s horrific dormitory fire at Mahdia, Region Eight.
President Irfaan Ali this afternoon declared three days of national mourning during an address to the nation in the wake of the deadly fire at the Mahdia Secondary School female dormitory last night.
Preliminary inquiries by the Guyana Fire Service have led investigators to conclude that the blaze which claimed the lives of 18 students and a child at Mahdia, Region Eight was maliciously set.
