Chief Executive Officer of GTT Damian Blackburn has called on local telecommunication operators as well as those in the region to partner in support of newly launched innovative eMarket cloud-based procurement solution, designed to streamline the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
The technology was launched by the Caribbean Association of National Telecommunication Organizations (CANTO) during its eMarket Roadshow held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre last week.
A statement from the local telecoms provider quoted Blackburn as saying, “We operate in a beautiful place in the Caribbean, but we are one of the smallest regions in the world… When we see initiatives that are born in the region we need to embrace them and bring them to life, and I believe that this is one such initiative that we as stakeholders have a huge duty in supporting… I’m sure that it wouldn’t have all the functionality that we need at the beginning but if we input what we need we will get what we need.”
In the release he stated that the new innovation gives hope to address the tremendous procurement challenges faced when competing against larger operators globally.
“As the CEO of GTT and the president of ATN International, we pledge everything to try and bring this platform to use in our own organizations. We’ve already started on that journey in GTT, and we will look to our other operations to do that also,” he asserted.
He threw the challenge to telecoms providers to utilize CANTO’s platform and at least pilot the initiative before CANTO’s 37 th Annual Conference and Trade Exhibition later this year.
The CEO added that GTT remains dedicated to championing competition, collaboration, and technological advancements as the company continues to drive digital transformation and deliver exceptional best-in-class services to customers in Guyana, the release said.
