Rumina Construction Saturday provided a timely boost to the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) in the form of funding for its Under-19 team.

The teen ruggers are scheduled to compete at the Rugby Americas North (RAN) 15s tourney next month in Jamaica.

Thanks to Franklyn Victor of the construction company, the funding will be used to help offset ticket prices, accommodation and meals for the contingent.

The tournament will scrum off on July 16th at the University of the West Indies’ Mona Campus.

There will be a total of 26 players and four officials in the travel contingent.

Victor, a Guyanese, who did not represent the national team in his playing days but did represent the British Virgin Islands, said that he is a big supporter of Guyana’s rugby and is always willing to help the GRFU in any way that he can. He wished the team success in the upcoming tournament and asked them to represent the Golden Arrowhead well.

Troy Yhip, treasurer of the GRFU, expressed his gratitude to Franklyn declaring…”Franklyn Victor has been very supportive of Guyana Rugby throughout the years and it was no surprise that he offered to assist the team in their trip to Jamaica, we are very grateful.”
