Defending boys’ division winners Charlestown suffered their first loss going down to Westminster whilst Bartica and Waramuri clinched commanding wins in the girl’s section in the ExxonMobil U14 Football Championship yesterday at the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Westminster prevailed over Charlestown by a 2-1 score. Michael Singh bagged a brace for the Region #3 outfit in the sixth and 14th minute. On target in the loss in the 13th minute was Dequan Hetsburger.
Meanwhile, Bartica demolished Mackenzie High 10-0 in the girl’s pool.
The trio of Nikesha Persaud [seveth, 12th and 30th], Candacy Robinson [14th, 18th, and 38th], and Nicole Joseph [fourth, 23rd, and 39th] recorded respective hat-tricks. Adding to the score in the eighth minute was Mia Peters.
Similarly, Waramuri crushed St Stanislaus College 8-0. Allia Henry recorded eight conversions in the first, ninth, 22nd, 25th, 27th, 28th, 39th, and 40th minute.
The event continues today at the same venue with another round of matches.
