The post-mortem examinations performed on 38-year-old Petrous Latchman and her 13-year-old daughter, Gabrielle Ross have not been able to determine their case of death.
The partially decomposed bodies of Latchman and her daughter were found last Wednesday at their New Providence, East Bank Demerara home.
A police report stated that a post mortem examination was conducted with dissection on both bodies by government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh. On completion of the examinations the causes of death were declared as undeterminable due to the state of both bodies.
Police had said that three plastic bottles, one glass bottle containing a liquid substance, and two cups, were found next to the bodies. Two small glass containers containing a whitish substance were recovered from the refrigerator along with a note in the living room.
Petrous’ 58 year-old husband, Hemanchal Latchman, last Wednesday went to the house to check on them at the request of the property owner. He made several calls to the house which was fully secured but received no answer. He then visited the police station and explained the situation but was informed that they could not intervene. After receiving permission from the landlord, he pried open the front door with the assistance of a neighbour and immediately became aware of a foul scent coming from inside the house. At this point he immediately summoned the police. When they arrived and ventured inside, they saw the partly decomposed bodies lying on the floor.
