President Irfaan Ali arrived yesterday in Nassau, The Bahamas for the US-Caribbean Leaders Meeting set for today with US Vice President, Kamala Harris.
The meeting which will be co-hosted by Vice President Harris and Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Philip Davis, is set to address a number of regional issues, a release from the Office of the President said. High on the agenda is the shared effort between the US and the Caribbean in promoting climate resilience and adaptation in the Caribbean.
The meeting, which is also expected to focus on energy security, is expected to build on the US-Caribbean Partnership to address the Climate Crisis 2030, launched last year by the US Vice President and Caribbean leaders, in Los Angeles at the Summit of the Americas.
President Ali is accompanied by Foreign Secretary, Robert Persaud and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Elisabeth Harper.
