Realeanna Grimmond and Tia Issacs piloted Berbice U19 to a crushing eight-wicket win over Essequibo Thursday in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) girls U19 Inter-County limited overs competition.
At Port Mourant, Berbice, the home team chased down the 108 made by Essequibo, cruising to 109 for 2.
National senior women’s team batter, Grimmond, scored 37 not out from 31 balls with four fours and one six while Issacs scored 22.
The openers added 76 for the first wicket as Ashmini Munisar ended on 13 not out to see her team home.
Bowling for Essequibo, Lavinda Ragobeer was the lone wicket-taker with 2-28.
Earlier, the Berbice bowlers were sublime, led by Grimmond 3-19 and Isaacs 2-22 who had brilliant all-round games while Crystal Durant supported with 2-16.
The Essequibo batters, apart from opener Laurene Williams, who had 20, all failed to reach double figures.
