A 29-year-old man from Charity was arrested after police discovered a quantity of cannabis during a search at his home.
According to a release from the Guyana Police Force Corporate Communications Unit, on Friday, June 09, at about 10.45 hours, ranks of Regional Police Division #2 acting on information received, went to the home of a 29-year-old male at Charity Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast. Upon arrival they requested to search his person and premises to which he agreed.
During the search, police located in the kitchen of the house, a white paint bucket containing 60 small transparent zip lock plastic bags, two medium transparent zip lock plastic bags, and a large transparent plastic bag, all containing leaves seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The man was told of the offence committed and under caution reportedly said, “Please for a chance.”
He was subsequently arrested and escorted to the Charity Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 165.5 grams.
He is presently in custody pending charges.
