GOA announces 69-member contingent for CAC Games

The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) yesterday officially announced a 69-member contingent that will represent the Golden Arrowhead at the 24th edition of the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games which is scheduled for June 23rd – July 8th in El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.

PPP/C confirmed as holder of all Lethem seats

The PPP/C has won the municipality of Lethem in District 9 as it ran unopposed and APNU Leader Aubrey Norton reasoned that this was because the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) did not give a reprieve to its complaints that its district representative had his vehicle vandalized and all the Party’s documents were stolen.

Dear Editor, I thank Dr. Leslie Ramsammy for his recent hopeful statements with regard to his intention to reinject some energy and momentum into policing the legislation passed some years ago to rein in tobacco consumption in Guyana, which effectively banned its use in Government Buildings and other Public Spaces.

Ethnic Relations Commission says voting was fair

Having observed the voting process in five Administrative Regions at over 250 Polling Places for Local Government Elections (LGE),  the Ethnic Relations Commission, (ERC)  yesterday said that it found it to be free, fair, transparent and conducted in an atmosphere of peace.

Responsibility

Two recent occurrences, seemingly worlds apart, bear a common thread. The tragic fire at the school dormitory in Mahdia which led to the loss of 20 children, and the charges under the Espionage Act laid against former American president Donald Trump, have prompted the same question: wherein lies the extent of the moral and legal responsibility of government officials?
