Prime Minister Mark Phillips was the Guest of Honour of the Guyana Day: Diaspora Outreach on Friday in Atlanta, Georgia.
The event, which also celebrated Guyana’s 57th Independence anniversary, was attended by a number of US-based Guyanese, a release from his office said.
During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the developmental transformation of Guyana in the social, economic and physical sectors.
He spoke of Guyana’s strategic focus and its leadership drive in energy security, food security, and environmental protection and sustainability.
Phillips also expounded upon President Irfaan Ali’s One Guyana Policy of uniting our people and recognising and respecting Guyana’s cultural and ethnic diversity.
He said that the Government would ensure that all Guyanese benefit from Guyana’s prosperity. Calls were made to Guyanese in the Atlanta diaspora to invest in Guyana. The Prime Minister received a commendation honour from the Office of the Mayor of the city of Stonecrest in Georgia.
