Bishops’ High, GTI, Christ Church and St Stanislaus win at YBG

The Bishops’ High, St, Stanislaus College, Government Technical Institute (GTI) and Christ Church recorded wins yesterday in the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Regional U18 Conference Championships.

At the St. Stanislaus College court, Bishops’ High crushed St. John’s College 69-6. The trio of Yaniel Easton, Aiden Doris and Colwyn Stephens tallied 14, 10, and eight points respectively. For St John’s, Joshua Pitt battled to three points and four rebounds.

On the other hand, St. Stanislaus dismissed Charlestown 34-8. Alafin Joseph registered 10 points, five steals, three rebounds, and as many assists whilst Allyn Adams added eight points. Joel King chipped in with five points and 12 rebounds. For Charlestown, Kevon Harlequinn tallied four points, four steals and four rebounds.

Over at the Marian Academy court, Government Technical Institute (GTI) defeated Marian Academy 41-26. Martin Edwards led the way with 10 points and nine rebounds, whilst Peter Langevine supported with 10 points and six rebounds.

For the home team, Marian Fiedtkou amassed 12 points and two rebounds whilst Jaden Simon added nine points and eight rebounds.

Also, Christ Church edged the School of the Nations 20-11. Orlando Monah recorded seven points, six rebounds and three steals. Contributing six points and four rebounds was Renako Solomon. For School of the Nations, Dequan James scored four points and pulled down seven rebounds.

The quarterfinals in the boys U18 Regional Conference will commence today at the St. Stanislaus College court from 3 pm. GTI will oppose Chase Academy in the first match whilst St. Rose’s will battle North Georgetown in the second encounter.

The third and fourth fixtures will pit St Stanislaus College against Queen’s College and Bishops’ High against Marian Academy.

Meanwhile, on Friday at the Marian Academy court, President’s College A, and B will contest the Regional Female finals following wins over Marian Academy and the Bishops’ High respectively.

President’s College B dismissed the Bishops’ High 21-5. Tikisha Vanlong tallied eight points and three steals, while Krizel Wells added five points and as many rebounds. For the losing team, Giana Wilson netted two points and three rebounds.

On the other hand, President’s College A downed hosts Marian Academy 9-1. Chrisleyan Richards recorded six points and two rebounds.
