The Petra Organization, the coordinators of the 8th edition of the Digicel Schools Football Championship, will officially unveil the lien championship trophy and tournament fixtures today at a ceremony penciled for 1:00pm at the Brandsville Hotel, Prashad Nagar.
This was confirmed by an official release from the organizers. According to the correspondence, the complete fixtures for the competition will be unveiled, paving the way for the commencement of the tournament tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Petra Organization’s established tradition of donating equipment to competing schools continued on Wednesday as the entity provided footballs to the competing teams of the Georgetown zone.
The simple but significant presentation occurred at the National Library located on the corner of Church Road and Main Street.
Petra Organization Co-Director Troy Mendonca said that initiative is part of the entity’s push to aid the in preparation of the respective schools ahead of the commencement of the tournament. He noted that this has become a feature of the organization and that the respective regional coordinators will also undertake an identical process with the schools in their jurisdiction.
The tournament which is penciled to commence on Saturday at the Ministry of Education and National Insurance Scheme grounds, Carifesta Avenue, will feature 128 teams competing in an elimination format. It is penciled down to conclude on August 13th.
