President’s College won the Boy’s and Girl’s East Coast Demerara Conference titles when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Regional Championships’ continued yesterday at the President’s College hard-court.
In the Boy’s U18 championship encounter, President’s College mauled Buxton Secondary by a 54-5 score-line in a thoroughly lopsided encounter. Ronoko Vaughn and Judah Ferreira registered 14 points each whilst Alwin DeFreitas supported with 10 points and nine rebounds.
In the Girl’s divisional final, President’s College ‘B’ defeated President’s College ‘A’ 17-7. Tikisha Van Long, who was subsequently adjudged the section’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), led the way with 10 points and six rebounds, whilst Akeelah Campbell scored four points and as many rebounds.
For the loser, Chrisleyann Richards recorded four points and four rebounds.
Meanwhile, Covent Garden Secondary clinched the East Bank Regional Conference title, squeaking past Diamond by a 24-23 score-line on Wednesday at the Covent Garden Hard-court. Eventual division MVP Jonathan Giddings top scored with 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals. He was supported by Jonathan Persaud who added four points and three rebounds.
For the loser, Benkai King tallied 13 rebounds and six rebounds.
