The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Guyana has issued a notice to the public of persons blacklisted by the United Nations Security Council Committee.
Among these persons is Pak Chun Il, former North Korean Ambassador to Egypt.
As such, members of the public are advised against dealing directly or indirectly with any property (including funds) derived or generated from property owned or controlled, directly or indirectly, by said individual.
Further, the public is advised against entering into or facilitating, directly or indirectly, any transaction, or provide any financial or related service in respect of the former Ambassador’s business relations or property.
The public is also restricted from making any property, financial or other service available to said individual.
It appears that these notices are part of the international obligations of the FIU.
This notice and another were carried in the State-owned Guyana Chronicle newspaper yesterday.
According to the second notice, several Al-Qaida members have been subject to frozen assets, travel bans and an arms embargo pursuant to Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The individuals are Mohamed Lebachir of Morocco, Meri Albdefattah Zgbye of Libya, Zoghbi Merai Abdul Fattah, Lazrag Faraj, Larzg Bel Ila, Muhammed El Besir, and Merai Zoghbai.
This notice, like the first, advises members of the public against having any form of business dealings with the individuals. Citizens are asked to report to the FIU Director, Matthew Langevine if they are in possession or control of funds or other assets of the individuals listed above.
