(Trinidad Guardian) Popular social media personality Kevon “Yank Boss” Solomon was murdered in the car park of Trincity Mall yesterday evening.

According to police reports, Solomon was driving his Chevy Cruze in the mall’s car park when he was attacked by a gunman who shot at his car.

Solomon was hit several times and the car crashed into a parking barrier and another parked vehicle, where he went unconscious.

He succumbed to his gunshot wounds while still in the driver’s seat and was pronounced dead on the scene by a District Medical Officer (DMO).

As Solomon lay in the vehicle immediately after the attack, several persons who were in the car park went for closer looks at the vehicle after realising it had been shot up, pulling out their cameras to make video recordings. Some, who were unaware there was a body in the vehicle, recoiled after realising this. Eventually, police arrived on the scene and cordoned off the area.

Homicide detectives had not determined a motive for Solomon’s murder up to late yesterday.

Solomon’s fans on social media responded immediately as news of his murder went viral, with many mourning his passing and sending condolences to his family.

However, quite a few social media users also sought to speculate on the motive for Solomon’s murder, as they suggested that someone who Solomon had targeted in his popular risqué and abrasive comedic posts may have been responsible for his killing.

Solomon had over 130,000 followers across social media platforms.

An autopsy will be performed on his body at the Forensic Science Centre in St James later this week.

Solomon’s murder raised the murder count for the year to 277.

Investigations are continuing.
