Guyana Cup winner Alado will run for the first time in East Berbice on July 30 when more than $7M will be up for grabs at the Port Mourant Turf Club. Seven exciting races are planned for the grand-one day horse event with the feature race, the ‘Shivtahal Trophy’ being open to all horses.
According to the race organizers, Alado will be the feature attraction in the one-mile feature event which will see the top horse bagging $2M for its handlers.
The co-feature will be the Banks Derby for three-year old Open Guyana and West Indian bred horses. The horses will be running a distance of one mile and the top stable will pocket $1.6M.
Other races on the card include the G & Lower, J Open, three-year-old Guyana bred maiden, L Open, E Class open and North American non-winner in Guyana.
The G & Lower race will be the third race which will see the top horse being paid in the million-dollar bracket. For the feature event, weight would be allotted by class. Races will be run under the updated classification. Entries close on July 25, 2023.
Races to be run under guidance of Guyana horse racing authority rules. Club reserves the right to cancel or reframe any race. Five horses to start before the third prize is paid.
