In a sign that precautions still have to be taken, the Ministry of Health yesterday announced a death from the COVID-19 virus, the first since February 13 this year.
In a statement, the ministry said that the latest fatality is a man, 64, from Pomeroon-Supenaam who succumbed on June 27. He had had the primary series of vaccines but it is unknown whether he had had a booster.
The pandemic death toll has moved to 1299. The February 13th fatality was a man, 51, from Region Four.
The ministry’s dashboard said that four new cases of the virus were reported and one person is in the ICU.
