Guyana Amazon Warriors have added four players from their previous roster for the upcoming 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) following the draft yesterday.
Among those joining the franchise are former Barbados Royals wicketkeeper batsman, Azam Khan and former St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Dwaine Pretorius. Local batsman, Kevlon Anderson received his maiden call-up while off-spinner, Kevin Sinclair has returned to the Warriors set up after featuring in Patriots’ camp last season.
Imran Tahir and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are returning as the other two overseas picks while Shimron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Odean Smith, Romario Shepherd, Shai Hope, Gudakesh Motie, Ronsford Beaton, Matthew Nandu and Junior Sinclair are also returning. Missing out from last season are Colin Ingram, Paul Stirling, Veerasammy Permaul, Shakib Al Hasan, Tabraiz Shamsi and Heinrich Klaasen.
The five-time finalists are still in the hunt for their first title having finished third last year.
Jermaine Blackwood, who featured with the Warriors last season will now play for the defending champions, Jamaica Tallawahs, while local boys, Ashmead Nedd and Sherfane Rutherford are with the Patriots. Winning captain, Rovman Powell is now with the Royals who have gained the services of Maheesh Theekshana, Rassie Van der dussen and Roelof Van der Merwe.
Noor Ahmad, Matheesha Pathirana, Rilee Rossouw and Martin Guptill have joined the Trinbago Knight Riders while Sikandar Raza, Bhanuka Rajapaksha and Dasun Shanaka are with the St. Lucia Kings.
The tournament gets underway on August 16 in St. Lucia with the final set for September 24 in Guyana.
