A staggering innings from all-rounder, Bhaskar Yadram, saw Phantoms Cricket Club to an eight-wicket win over Punjabpura in the Commonwealth Cricket League.
At Cunningham Park, Punjabpura won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 158 for eight from their allotted 20 overs. Phantoms then coasted to 159 for two in 14 overs.
National cricketer Yadram hammered five sixes and four fours in 51 not out from a mere 17 balls. The Guyanese shared an unfinished 59-run partnership for the third wicket with Arif Habib, who ended on 18 not out from 24 balls.
Usman Bajwa laid the platform with a 68-run partnership with Habib. Bajwa’s 57-run innings came from just 35 balls and featured four fours and four sixes before he was caught and bowled by Lovepreet Singh (2-32). Shiv Sangalema also chipped in with 20 from 12 balls.
Earlier, Shanty Singh top scored with 63 from 35 balls, hitting eight fours and three sixes. He added 59 for the fifth wicket with Jagmit Singh (32) before both batsmen were bowled by Yadram (2-26).
Punjabpura’s innings also featured cameos from Lovepreet Singh (18), Lavi Singh (17) and Amanpreet Singh (12). Ganesh Ramlall bagged 2-26 while Lala Wajid, Bajwa and Ifran Malik picked up one wicket each.
