Two-time defending champion Chase Academy, Dolphin Secondary, Carmel, and Charlestown recorded victories when the Digicel Secondary Schools Football Championship continued yesterday.
Chase Academy mauled Brickdam 11-0. Seon Cato led the rout with a hat-trick in the seventh, 38th, and 42nb minute while Bryan Wharton supported with a brace in the 18th and 22nd minute and Omar Sam tallied a double in the 15th and 26th minute.
Adding goals in the fourth, 28th, 31st, and 60th minute apiece were the quartet of Manasseh Anderson, Duquan Samuels, Shakeem Welcome, and Matrim Martin respectively.
Similarly, Dolphin Secondary dismantled Tutorial 9-0. Nicholas Tappin recorded a hat-trick in the 27th, 53rd, and 60th minute, whilst added a brace in the Gerry Burnett-15th and 27th minute, and Jamal Williams tallied a double in the 23rd and 24th minute. Supporting with conversions in the 26th and 64th minute were Jequan Cole and Requan Corbin.
Likewise, Charlestown crushed North Georgetown 8-0. D’Angelo Dick, Malachi Barker, Jeremiah Booker, Andrew Carto, Nathan Pollard, Malcolm Hendricks, and Emmanuel Nedd scored in the 13th, 17th, 24th, 37th, 47th, 50th, and 57th minute apiece.
On the other hand, Carmel downed North Ruimveldt 2-1. Ian Daniels recorded a brace in the 15th and 46th minute. On target in the loss was Jevon Pluck in the 58th minute.
Meanwhile, tournament coordinator Lavern Fraser Thomas announced that the national championship will commence on July 29th with the Round of 32 section. She revealed that all regional winners and eventual qualifiers will be identified by July 10th following the end of the zonal competitions.
