A 24-year-old man was arrested by police on mobile patrol after he was found with 12.9 grammes of cannabis in his possession at 7 Miles Mahdia, Potaro.
A police release said that about 17:00 hrs on Saturday, two ranks were on mobile patrol duty at 7 Miles Mahdia, when they stopped Quacy Hodge, who was riding an XR motorcycle with licence plate number CL 4567. He was asked to produce his driver’s licence and documents for the motorcycle to which he stated that he did not have in his possession.
Hodge was told that he would be escorted to Mahdia Police Station and that a search would have to be conducted on his person, the police said. It added that at this point, he started to behave in a disorderly manner and the ranks held on to him and conducted a search. They reportedly found a transparent zip bag containing several small parcels with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis, stashed in his crotch. Hodge was cautioned and admitted ownership of the cannabis, police said.
He was arrested and escorted to the station along with the suspected cannabis, which, when weighed, amounted to 12.9 grammes. The release said the marijuana was photographed, marked, sealed and lodged with the Station Sergeant and Hodge is expected to be charged shortly.
