St. Stanislaus College, Kwakwani, and Christianburg/Wismar recorded comfortable group stage wins, when the ExxonMobil National School Basketball Festival continued yesterday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
St. Stanislaus College dismissed Vryman’s Erven 38-11. Brandon McKoy led the rout with 11 points, eight rebounds, and six steals, whilst Alafin Joseph added eight points and five rebounds. For the loser, Nohoj Baird scored nine points and five rebounds.
Similarly, Kwakwani crushed Mahaicony Technical Institute (MTI) 45-31. Kelon Phillips recorded figures of 16 points and nine rebounds, whilst Kassim English contributed 15 points. For the loser, Nahum Rigby recorded a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Likewise, Christianburg/Wismar defeated Marian Academy 48-38. Keishawn Kitt registered 20 points and five rebounds, whilst Teishawn Kitt tallied 16 points and eight rebounds. For the loser, Jaden Simon recorded a double-double of 21 points and 19 rebounds, whilst Marion Fiedtkou added 10 points.
In other results, President’s College bested Christ Church 33-22. Judah Ferreira 10 points and Ezekiel Saul tallied 10 and nine points respectively in the win. For the loser, Trayon Grenville accumulated 19 points and six rebounds.
The Bishops’ High downed Queen’s College 39-30. Mattias Arrindell amassed 18 points and seven rebounds, whilst Daniel Bailey added nine points and 12 rebounds. For the loser, Francois Myers scored 11 points whilst Owen Hooper supported with 10 points and six rebounds.
Also, Linden Technical Institute crushed Tutorial High 34-6. Jemol Semple recorded 16 points and five rebounds in the win. In the Girl’s section, President’s College B edged Marian Academy 9-8. Shania Noble scored four points and three rebounds, whilst Stephanna Perry added three points. For the loser, Angel Ramjaram scored all eight points.
On the other hand, School Girls Combined mauled Charlestown 25-0. Kassidy Woolford led the way with a double-double of 10 points, and as many rebounds. Adding seven points and seven rebounds was Talia Gray.
On Sunday at the same venue in the boy’s U18 division, Queen’s College crushed Camille’s Institute 48-14. Owen Hooper led the rout with 18 points, with Ezekiel Griffith recording 10 points and 9 rebounds, and Fuad Bacchus registering nine points and four rebounds. Likewise, New Amsterdam Multilateral dismantled Covent Garden 40-8. Xavier Ferreira tallied 12 points and five rebounds, whilst Timothy Persaud supported with 11 points and six rebounds, and Jared Dainty contributed nine points and 12 rebounds. For the loser, Jonathan Gittens and Amaan Yusuf recorded five and three points apiece. Similarly, the Government Technical Institute brushed aside St. Rose’s High 44-32. Peter Langevine registered 13 points and six rebounds, whilst Martin Edwards added 10 points and seven rebounds, and Javier St. Claire chipped in with eight points and four rebounds. For the loser, Carmelo Man Son Hing battled to 32 points and five rebounds.
On the other hand, Christ Church defeated Diamond 29-19. Kwame Huntley recorded 12 points and seven rebounds, whilst Tyrese Bancroft added seven points and 10 rebounds. For the loser, Benkai King and Andrew Cameron scored 10 and five points respectively.
Tutorial High edged School of the Nations 23-22. Zeldro Haynes tallied nine points and eight rebounds whilst Yeeknahyah Yisrael added six points. For the loser, Ethan Raghoo accumulated 10 points and four rebounds.
Also, MTI downed Lower Corentyne 24-22. Joel Estriado amassed 11 points and seven rebounds, whilst Nehum Rigby added six points and 12 rebounds. For Lower Corentyne, Qualon Crandon scored 10 points. Meanwhile, in the girl’s section, defending champion Kwakwani blanked School Girls Combined 48-0. Lanesha Mohammed tallied 15 points and nine rebounds, while Sherel Leacock, Briana Benjamin, and D’Ja Garraway supported with eight, six, and five points respectively.
Also, Marian Academy defeated the Bishops’ High 10-2. Angel Ramjaram scored eight points and six rebounds. For the loser, Lashaunte Berkley recorded two points and three rebounds. The event, which is organized by Youth Basketball Guyana, is also supported by the National Sports Commission, Edward B Beharry Ltd, and G-Boats GY.
