A minibus driver and a conductor are in police custody after they were nabbed on Monday afternoon with 512.5 grammes of marijuana on Charity Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
The police stated that the minibus driver, a 27-year-old from Charity Housing Scheme, is also the owner of the vehicle, and the conductor is a 30-year-old from Lima Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast.
According to the report, at about 16.00 hours on Monday, ranks from the Regional Police Division Number Two were on patrol when acting on information received, they intercepted the minibus. They arrested the driver and conductor after finding a black bag containing 512.5 grams of suspected marijuana in the vehicle.
The black plastic bag that was found under the conductor’s seat on the floor contained a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The two were taken to Charity Police Station along with the suspected narcotic which when weighed, amounted to 512.5 grammes.
